Brooklyn Zen Center | A New York City Soto Zen Buddhist Temple
Our Space

This beautiful, airy three thousand square foot loft space on a charming, quiet block in the Gowanus section of Brooklyn has a flowing, open plan flooded with natural light. Twelve-foot high open-structure ceilings, warm wide-plank oak floors, and eight-foot high south-facing windows with sunset views are characteristic of the entire loft. A hand-built, rustic Chinese-style tea center just past the coat check area greets visitors as they arrive. The fully equipped kitchen easily handles catering needs for up to seventy-five guests. The reception area is 900 square feet and the ceremonial area is 1200 square feet. A 400 square foot library/conference room between these two areas can be used as a meeting room or as additional reception space. If required, most lighting is adjustable. Wooden chairs and tables are provided as are meditation cushions when necessary. The space is ideal for small weddings, conferences, receptions, and spiritual retreats and celebratons of any tradition.
