  • Meditation Schedule

PLEASE NOTE LIMITED SUMMER SCHEDULE: From Sunday, July 20th through Monday, September 1st, Brooklyn Zen Center’s schedule will be limited to Saturdays only. All weekly meditation periods are cancelled during this time. On Tuesday, September 2nd, we will resume our regularly posted schedule.

There are no meditation periods scheduled on Sunday or Monday. A suggested donation of $5.00 when visiting the zendo is deeply appreciated. Donations go to rent, upkeep, zendo supplies, and general BZC and community needs.

    Mornings: Wednesday through Friday

    6:25 am - Doors Open
6:40 am - Zazen (sitting meditation)
7:10 am - Kinhin (walking meditation)
    7:20 am - Zazen
    7:50 am - Service
    8:00 am - End

All are welcome to come to either or both periods of zazen. Please arrive 10 minutes before a meditation period begins so that we can all be situated, allowing the zendo to be quiet and settled before the period starts. Our custom is to be seated for meditation 5 minutes before the zazen bell is rung.

    Evenings: Tuesday through Thursday

    6:45 pm - Doors Open
    7:00 pm - Zazen
    7:30 pm - Service
    7:40 pm - End

    Saturday Morning Program:

    10:00 am - Doors Open
    10:20 am - Zazen
    11:00 am - Kinhin
11:10 am - Zazen (or recorded dharma talk as scheduled)
11:50 pm - End (unless scheduled event)

Meditation Instruction is given on the first Tuesday evening of each month at 7:45 pm after evening zazen and service. The suggested donation for instruction is $5.00

All are encouraged to ask any questions they may have about meditation or otherwise after morning and evening services. Our zendo is totally funded by donations, so your generosity is greatly appreciated. Thank you for joining us in zazen.
