The Jazz Mindfulness Program, Park Slope’s innovative music program for young people and adults, and Brooklyn Zen Center present “A Night of Improvisation and Mindfulness" on Friday, March 11th, at 7:30pm.
This will be the JMP's first ever music concert exploring the connections between improvisation and mindfulness practice.
Musicians of all genres have long understood the power of improvisation and its connection to the present moment. Meditators cultivate being in the present moment in all activities. The Jazz Mindfulness Program's mission is to shine light on both music and meditation as ways of acheiving mindfulness.
There is a suggested donation of $10 for the concert.
The innovative program will proceed as follows:
7:30pm – 20 minute period of sitting meditation (optional)
8:00pm - Erik Lawrence/Rene Hart duo
