The Erica Essner Performance Co-Op incorporates a physical narrative into its intense and compelling ensemble work, creating dance that is both heartfelt and architecturally refined. This Brooklyn- based dance company has been described by the New York Times as …”consistently, unself-consciously quirky in the best way.”
The company is currently working on The Soul Project, an excerpt of which premiered at the San Francisco Arts International Arts Festival, and most recently at the DanceNow Festival in NYC. Erica Essner Performance Co-Op takes on the notion of the “soul” from philosophical and religious perspectives. Members of the cast explore the definition of the soul as related to their personal experience. This project was created in part at the Kaatsbaan International Dance Center in the fall of 2010 in collaboration with the cast. The cast includes: Josh Palmer, Courtney Drasner, Jenni Hong, and Lesley Garrison. For more information on the company go to http://www.eecop.org
